  12.      The ////eeeettttcccc////nnnneeeettttwwwwoooorrrrkkkkssss file contains information regarding the known networks
  13.      which comprise the Internet.  For each network a single line should be
  14.      present with the following information:

  16.         +o official network name

  18.         +o network number
  19.  
  20.         +o aliases (optional)

  22.      Items are separated by any number of blanks and/or tab characters.  A
  23.      ``#'' indicates the beginning of a comment; characters up to the end of
  24.      the line are not interpreted by routines which search the file.

  26.      Network number may be specified in the conventional ``.'' notation using
  27.      the _i_n_e_t__n_e_t_w_o_r_k() routine from the Internet address manipulation
  28.      library, _i_n_e_t(3N).  Network names may contain any printable character
  29.      other than a field delimiter, newline, or comment character.  For
  30.      example,

  35.      For hosts connected to the Internet, this file can be created from the
  36.      official network database maintained at the Network Information Control
  37.      Center (NIC), though local changes may be required to bring it up-to-date
  38.      regarding unofficial aliases and/or unknown networks.
